While I’m at work and waiting for software to load or on my lunch break, I like to pull out a 4″x6″ sketchbook and do quick little sketches in ball point pen.

I did the artwork for a kids book called Kindergarten Heroes. It’s fun, funny and not out yet, so you can’t find it on the shelves at the moment. BUT, it is coming out and it’ll be a fantastic hit. This Superman image is done in a similar style I used when working on Kindergarten Heroes. This is something that I wanted to offer up to people that donated over $150 to a children’s charity; a sketch of any pop culture character you want done up on 10 x 10 paper, either in the adult form or super cute kid form. The problem was I didn’t have any examples of what I was offering, so I did this. I’ll do a Spider-Man piece in a few days as well and hopefully start getting people interested. The frame I just had lying around, I quite like it 😀
I really dug Starlight by Mark Millar and Goran Parlov (one of my favourite artists!) and wanted to create something that gave an old sci-fi novel vibe. The night time image was thought of after the initial idea and done out of curiosity, how would the same image look using very few colours? Now I think I like the night time one more than the original image 😛
You can download the latest version of the My Galaxy strips here. When I have more done I’ll add them to the pdf and eventually have the entire set available as an ebook. These are low res versions, to download just click on the link: My Galaxy
The first of my last My Galaxy strips. I’ll be doing something with these once they’re all finished. Stay tuned 😀
